Gait analysis
A fundamental part of orthopaedics is the lameness examination. It is one of the most difficult and time-consuming acts of veterinary care. It is particularly important to recognise the cause and not just treat the symptoms. Knowledge of the normal gait pattern is crucial for a professional lameness examination.
In our practice, we offer you a gait analysis of your animal in addition to the classic lameness examination. In apparently healthy animals, the slightest deviations from the normal, ideal movement pattern can be recognised and treated at an early stage. This is particularly important for animals that are used in sport and work in order to optimise their performance.
A state-of-the-art digital gait analysis system is available in the practice for our patients. The CanidGait® from zebris Medical GmbH, a gait analysis treadmill for dogs, is used for this purpose. This can be used both for stance analysis and for gait analysis in different gaits. With this technology, even functional deficits that are difficult to recognise with the naked eye can be detected early and contribute to the diagnosis. Gait analysis is also used in therapy and follow-up checks.
